Germantown is just 12 miles northwest of Washington, DC. It lies on Germantown Road just off the I-270 corridor. It's host to Montgomery College of Germantown and has been rated one of the top fifty places in America to raise a family.

History of Germantown, MD

In the 1830s and 1840s, a large number of German business owners, some of whom were immigrants from Germany and others relocating from Pennsylvania, settled where the roads now know as Liberty Mill and Clopper intersect. Germantown has experienced great growth during the past few years and an urbanized town center has been built.

Schools in Germantown, MD

Public schools in Germantown are part of the Montgomery County Public Schools system and include Kingsview Middle School, Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School, Lake Seneca Elementary School, and Fox Chapel Elementary School. There are two high schools, Northwest High and Seneca Valley High Schools that serve the city of Germantown as well as surrounding cities.
