Dupont Circle and Kalorama are neighborhoods located at the intersection of Massachusetts, Connecticut and New Hampshire avenues. Known for its circular traffic pattern, Dupont Circle includes the area north of M Street, west of 15th Street, south of Florida Avenue, and east of 22nd Street. Kalorama is bound by Rock Creek Park on the north and west, P Street NW to the south, and 22nd Street, Florida and Connecticut avenues to the east.

Mansions once lined the streets surrounding Dupont Circle, providing homes for the city’s most elite residents. However, only one mansion still stands along the circle, and most of the surviving older homes in the neighborhood are three and four-story rowhouses built in the Queen Anne and Romanesque styles, which were popular in the 19th Century. Dupont Circle is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Dupont Circle has developed into a mainstream community with upscale businesses and diverse residents. You can find a variety of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, retail stores, and specialty bookstores lining the streets. Several research institutions are also located in this neighborhood including Brookings Institution, Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, and the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies.
